I usually add a couple of comments specific to each student as well (keep in mind that these comments are for use with my GCU classes):<br /><br />Perfect:<br />Great job! You addressed all aspects of this assignment in sufficient depth. You supported your main points with references, examples, and explanations. Also, you demonstrated a very good understanding and application of the information.<br />Your introduction and conclusion were clearly developed. Your introduction was both interesting and informative, and your conclusion brought closure to the essay. Your sequence of thought was logical, and your ideas were well-developed.<br />There were no major errors in spelling, punctuation, or grammar. You met all APA formatting requirements including: a completed title page, a reference page with correctly cited and formatted sources, and in-text references which were correctly formatted.<br /><br />Pretty Good:<br />You addressed most aspects of the assignment in sufficient depth. While you showed a sufficient understanding of the information, I would have liked to see more application of the materials through the inclusion of relevant supporting points and examples.<br />Your introduction and conclusion are readily identifiable, but they could be a little more developed. For example, a conclusion should bring closure to the paper rather than simply summarizing what has already been stated. For the most part your sequence of though throughout the paper was logical and your ideas were well developed.<br />There were only a few minor spelling, punctuation, or grammar errors, and you did a pretty good job of complying with APA formatting standards. Though, there were a few minor formatting errors on your title page, reference page, or in-text citations.<br />Acceptable:<br />While you addressed most aspects of the assignment, you didn’t do so in sufficient depth. Please work on supporting your main points with examples, references, and explanations. I’m not sure you completely grasped all of the concepts covered in this assignment. Please let me know if you need clarification in any specific areas.<br />Additionally, please work on developing a readily identifiable introduction and conclusion to your essay. Including these items will keep your paper on track and provide an outline for a more logical sequence of thought and smoother paragraph transitions.<br />There were repeated errors with grammar, punctuation, and spelling. Also, there were numerous instances of subject/verb disagreement. Please use the tools in the Student Success Center for help in this area. Also, please consult the tools in the Writing Center for help with APA formatting requirements. All essay assignments must include a title page, a reference page, and properly formatted in-text citations.<br />Unacceptable:<br />I don’t think you addressed most aspects of the assignment in sufficient depth. Nor did you demonstrate understanding or application of the information. Please use the Student Success Center for help in this area and for help with using proper tone of voice, word choice, and sentence structure.<br />APA formatting requirements call for a Title Page, a Reference Page, and correctly cited references within the paper.
